Not a native, but this species can still be found plentiful, especially in upper stretches of rivers where water quality is better. Introduced for fishing purpose this invader tool the native marble by surprise and almost wiped out pure strain of marbles from their existence. Only after years of stocking with pure marble DNK, and harvesting brown trout, have the numbers of browns declined. Nevertheless, it is a joy catching browns on Idrijca, where they grow to trophy sizes with some of the wildest spot patters and brown-golden hues spotted with bloody red colour.
